I mostly hear the hum when I go upstairs after about 12 midnight. For me it’s like the low drone of a bee swarm. The first time I heard it, I hadn’t seen the media reports so it’s not as if I was listening for it! In fact at first I was worried that I might have some sort of insect infestation.
It’s only just audible and doesn’t keep me awake.
