[comics] Andrew Rilestone sums up Dave Sim: ‘Cerebus the Aardvark is a comic. The writer, Dave Sim, underwent a conversion and or nervous breakdown while writing it. He now claims to be a Jew, a Christian and a Moslem simultaneously, adopting a gnostic synthesis of the three religions in which God is in conflict with a demiurgic female principle which may or may not be identical with the YHWH of the Old Testement. He also thinks that the world is run by a cabal of Marxist Feminist Moslem Homosexualists. Many people think that he is not very sensible.’
Nice Summary of Dave Sim’s Beliefs…

Just thought I’d point out that Dave Sim, contrary to Andrew’s characterisation of him, does not claim that he’s a Jew. I think that assertion would offend him deeply and it makes him look crazier than he deserves. Dave admires the Jewish people and religion and certainly has expressed the wish that he had been born Jewish but since God in His Wisdom saw fit to make Dave a goy, Dave just has to accept God’s Will. Of course, if he met a nice Jewish girl and married her I guess he could convert :-) if the Rabbi would let him.
He also doesn’t claim to be a Christian and a Moslem at the same time. He just agrees with a lot of Moslem views (but very few Christian ones) and accepts the Qu’ran as Scripture along with the Bible (Old and New Testaments) although he has, as Andrew describes in his blog post, problems with the Synoptic Gospels.
